Genuine Mexican food will have almost the same ingredients like tomatoes, maize, cocoa, tomatillos, beans, epazote, avocados, and chilles. Any authentic Mexican tequila restaurant will have dishes prepared from these.

Some MUST TRY! Mexican Dishes…

Pico de gallo is a mixture of chopped up tomato, onion, cilantro, peppers etc. with flour Tortilla or Pan dulce.

Interestingly, this pan dulce is one of the first non-native foods brought in by Spaniards. The creation of baked sweet bread for which the Mexican bakers are famous now was influenced by the French and Spaniards.

They introduced baked goods such as crispy rolls, baguettes, and sweet pastries to Mexico. This inspired the natives to create different types of panes dulces such as besos, conchas, and cuernos amongst others.

Bread is considered to be one of Mexico's most inexpensive treats and is consumed daily as breakfast or late supper or merienda.

Enchiladas are wrapped tortilla rolls, filled with either beef, chicken, seafood, potato, beans, or other combinations, with a chilli pepper sauce sprinkled on top. Snacks like carnitas are made of simmered or braised pork and can be served with the tortilla.

Tacos are indispensable. Without them, Mexican food is incomplete. They are available in plenty of varieties of fish, carne asada, fajita, beef and bean, chicken mole, chipotle pork, chorizo and potato and much more.

Guacamole, another popular savory is a dish of mashed avocado mixed with chopped onion, tomatoes, chilli peppers, and other seasonings.

Rice and cheeses occupy the table almost always. So are soups and stews, taken during a meal. Pork and red chile stews, carne adobada, pork neck and purslane stew, rebocado are some of the favorite stuff making up the menu.
